Instagram favs - Photo by @daviddoubilet Tucked in toxic tentacles. A pink clownfish peers out at me, safe within the folds of its host anemone in #KimbeBay #PapuaNewGuinea. Clownfish, also called anemone fish, are immune to the toxins produced by its home. I am a confirmed clownfish addict. I cant swim past them without stopping to check what species it is and to look for eggs ready to hatch. Kimbe Bay is the site one of the longest running research studies on anemones and clownfish and their importance as indicator species to coral reef health. I will be posting a series of clownfish from reefs around the world this week as we present #NGLive Coral Kingdoms and Empires of Ice at the Amoss Center Bel air Maryland Oct 29 with @jenniferhayesig @thephotosociety #nemo #CoralTriangle #CoralReef
